Database access levels and what you can view

Public user (not logged in)

Public user level is the most basic level of access and users can do the following:

  • see validated and published objects (those with yellow and green flags);
  • low level mapping but without dots on maps;
  • see the findspot to 1km grid square level (4 figure grid ref.) and slight obfuscation of findspot by randomised subtraction/addition of 10ths of a degree to the degraded findspot;
  • zoom to a limited level;
  • but have no access to personal data.

Registered users

Registered users with basic login access can do the following:

  • see validated and published objects (those with yellow and green flags);
  • low level mapping but without findspot plotted as a dot on maps;
  • see the findspot to 1km grid square level (4 figure grid ref.) and slight obfuscation of findspot by randomised subtraction/addition of 10ths of a degree to the degraded findspot;
  • zoom to a limited level;
  • save searches;
  • but cannot see maps or retrieve finds by parish for any record with the "to be known as" field completed;
  • but have no access to personal data.

Registered users with higher level login access can do the following:

Member +:

  • see validated and published objects (those with yellow and green flags);
  • low level mapping but without findspot plotted as a dot on maps;
  • see the findspot to 1km grid square level (4 figure grid ref.) and slight obfuscation of findspot by randomised subtraction/addition of 10ths of a degree to the degraded findspot;
  • zoom to a limited level;
  • save searches;
  • can create and edit their own records and get full mapping capabilities for these objects (but not other finders' objects);
  • but cannot see maps or retrieve finds by parish for any record with the "to be known as" field completed;
  • but have no access to personal data.

Researchers and Historic Environment Officers:

  • can see on review, validated and published objects (those with red, yellow and green flags);
  • can see full findspot details;
  • zoom at highest level;
  • high level mapping with findspot plotted as a dot on maps;
  • access Flickr shapefile outline for parishes;
  • enhanced spreadsheet downloads including csv for import into exeGesis HBSMR;
  • can access to Scheduled Ancient Monument proximity search;
  • can create and edit their own records and get full mapping capabilities for these objects (but not other finders' objects);
  • can save searches;
  • can validate records (change the flag colour to yellow);
  • but have no access to personal data.

Finds Liaison Officers and the Treasure Team:

  • can see on review, validated and published objects (those with red, yellow and green flags);
  • can see finds on review (those with red flags);
  • can see full findspot details;
  • zoom at highest level;
  • high level mapping with findspot plotted as a dot on maps;
  • access Flickr shapefile outline for parishes;
  • have enhanced spreadsheet downloads including csv for import into exeGesis HBSMR;
  • can access to Scheduled Ancient Monument proximity search;
  • can save searches and use enhanced spreadsheet downloads;
  • can create and edit their own records;
  • can edit records made by members, HEROs, researchers and those at their institution;
  • can edit any records they made when working in other counties
  • can validate records (change the flag colour to yellow);
  • can publish records (change the flag colour to green);
  • have full access to personal data.

Finds Advisers:

  • can see validated and published objects (those with yellow and green flags);
  • can see finds on review (those with red flags);
  • can see finds in quarantine (records that need more data);
  • can see full findspot details;
  • can zoom at highest level;
  • high level mapping with findspot plotted as a dot on maps;
  • can access Flickr shapefile outline for parishes;
  • have enhanced spreadsheet downloads including csv for import into exeGesis HBSMR;
  • can access to Scheduled Ancient Monument proximity search;
  • can save searches and use enhanced spreadsheet downloads;
  • can create and edit their own records;
  • can edit records made by any user;
  • can publish records (change the flag colour to green);
  • have full access to personal data.

Administrators

Administrators can see and do everything!
