Details for Salvidienus Rufus, Q. - Roman Republican moneyer

One of Octavian's (Augustus, q.v.) closest friends, despite a relatively humble origin. He was designated for Consul of 40 BC but offered to desert to Mark Antony and lost his honours when this treachery was revealed. He was killed or committed suicide in fall of 40 BC, after being condemned of treason. He issued coins with Octavian while consul designate and governor of Gaul.
