Details for Aquillius, Mn - Roman Republican moneyer

Republican moneyer, presumably the Mn. Aquillius who was Consul in 101 BC. If the identification is correct, he was a supporter of Gaius Marius (who ran for Consul with him in 101 BC). He was given a triumph in 100 BC for his handling of an insurgency in Sicily; he was subsequently accused of maladministration in Sicily but was acquitted because of his former bravery. He died when captured during the Mithridatic war; Mithridates tortured him and poured molten gold down Aquillius' throat.
