Bronze Age Mining on the Great Orme

Principal investigator: Emma Wager
Level: Major publication

I completed my PhD thesis in 2003 at the University of Sheffield on 'The Character and Context of Bronze Age Mining on the Great Orme, North Wales, UK'. I am currently preparing an updated version of this study for publication by the end of this year (2020). This includes a section considering the Bronze Age copper metal/metalwork production and use context of contemporary mining on the Great Orme. For this, I review the changing distribution and type of production evidence and copper alloy objects in north Wales (which I define as all of Wales North of northing 300000). I would like to search the PAS database for relevant sites and finds recorded since 2000 within this study area, in order to update my original dataset. This is a desk-based study only: I will not be visiting the find spots nor contacting the finders/landowners.

This study complements but does not duplicate other topics in the research register.
