Beacons of the Past

The HLF Funded 'Beacons of the Past' project explores the Iron Age landscapes of the Chilterns AONB, with a particular focus on its hillforts and their surroundings. A bespoke LiDAR survey of the AONB will form the major dataset for this project. PAS data will be consulted for gaining a landscape-wide understanding of detectorist finds across the region.

Edward Peveler is: Landscape Heritage Officer for the Beacons of the Past HLF-supported hillforts project. Our affiliate institution is the Chilterns Conservation Board (although Ed is also on the tutor panel at Oxford University Dept of Continuing Education and an Academic Visitor at the School of Archaeology at Oxford).
