Iron Age Horsemanship and Horse Gear in the North West

Principal investigator: Jane Barker
Level: Masters degree

I am an Archaeology MA student at the University of Manchester, and part of a collaboration project between local universities in the north west of England and the Portable Antiquities Scheme. My research will involve Iron Age horse gear, such as fobs, and the working title of my research is Iron Age Horsemanship and Horse Gear in the North West. My research will entail either producing a catalogue of horse gear for the North Western of England, or situating the collection within the wider suite of horse gear on a national basis to determine whether the North West had its own regional styles and decorations. The research is expected to take around 9 months
