Denmark Finds Organisation

Principal investigator: Andres Dobat
Level: External project (International)

I will be using my researchers access in relation to our ongoing development of the Danish equivalent to PAS – the DIME project, which invites detectorists to upload find data.

In addition, I will be using PAS data in various research projects on Early Medieval/Viking Age society. Currently I am investigating the function and significance of a number of lead objects from a Viking Age manor site in Northern Germany (Füsing) which has produced a number of lead gaming pieces(?) or weights(?), similar to a whole range of lead objects found in Viking Age contexts in England (e.g. KENT-9AA591 or DUR-5F614C). I really want the query for lead gaming pieces of Early Medieval date to appear on a map (which I intend to publish in a forthcoming article).
