Research into peasant material culture

Undertaking research into peasant material culture as part of a collaborative research project with Dr Christopher Briggs (dept history, University of Cambridge). The project compares archaeological data against that from medieval peasant inventories. Currently the research is at the pilot stage, but we are seeking funding to expand the scope of the project to underake a detailed interdisciplinary study. PAS data will provide a valuable source of data in pursuing this research project.

Dr Ben Jervis received his PhD from the University of Southampton and is an expert in the study of medieval pottery., a subject on which he has published widely. He currently works for English Heritage.
