A cast copper-alloy post-medieval sword belt fitting, dating from the 16th to the 17th century AD. The object is cast and sub-triangular in plan; one end has a trefoil shaped moulding, the other end terminates in a curved hook with a knop at its end. There are two rivet holes at the top and bottom of the plate. The upper plate is decorated with a foliage pattern, the back is undecorated. An incomplete late Early-Medieval copper-alloy openwork stirrup strap mount (Williams Class A, type 8), dating from c. AD 1050 to 1100. The mount is triangular in shape and is slightly convex in section. At the wider end, the strap mount has two circular rivet holes for attachment. The mount is decorated with a pair of projecting animal heads and leafy tendrils, with a possible animal head on the apex. Similar examples can be seen in Williams, numbers 130- 138 (see reference below for details). It measures 44 mm in length and 25.5 mm in width, and 1.5mm in thickness.
