Finds Recording Digital Image Assistant

We are looking for a Finds recording Digital Image Assistant:

To assist with the image processing of archaeological objects for the publication of object records on the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) database.

Project Description:
Every year thousands of archaeological objects are discovered by people whilst out walking, gardening, metal-detecting or going about their daily work. The PAS records these objects so that they can be shared by all to help understand when, where and how people lived in the past. For more information on the PAS, visit

This volunteer role involves assisting with the image processing of archaeological objects for publication of object records on the PAS database. The volunteer will need access to their own laptop, and access to Photoshop Elements would be beneficial or to download the free image manipulation software called GIMP.

We encourage all to access our volunteer roles, and aim to create roles to reflect this. This role has been created so it can be performed from home.

Please note: this role is for PAS which is based within Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum. Training for this role will be provided at Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum by PAS.
Learning or improving use of image manipulation software.
Volunteer from your own home at your own time.
Opportunity to attend PAS training courses (costs of attending reimbursed by PAS).
Make a vital contribution to a national archaeological project.

2 hours on Thursday mornings (mainly in term-time) bi-monthly for training and continued support, but the majority of the work to be carried out from home
