Date range: AD 1500 to AD 1900
Notes:
Early post-medieval is generally used for the 16th century and sometimes for the 17th century. The term 'middle post-medieval' is not used, and there is debate as to what constitutes the late post-medieval period. For the 18th century, it is best to stick simply to 'post-medieval' and qualify it using calendar dates.
