Copper alloy brooch fragment. Cast hinged Colchester derivative brooch, Mackreth type CD H 3.b. Cylindrical wings with a horizontal step or groove behind retain an axis bar which itself retains a cast pin with expanded proximal end. The front of the wings bears three bands of vertically billeted ornament with a single diagonal incision passing across them on either side. The fragment is flat and decorated on one side with a pair of bosses of three concentric annulets, a pair of transverse ridges, one of which has cable style decoration and then another panel with three or more parallel bands of small dot-in-annulets.
