An early medieval silver penny of Archbishop Ceolnoth of Canterbury, (833-70), 'Inscribed Cross' type (aka 'Open Cross') dating to c.AD854-64, moneyer Hebeca, mint: Canterbury (North 245; Naismith C154). The coin is complete but cracked, the crack running along the line of the shoulders of the bust and the inner circle.  Obverse: Tonsured bust facing. The coin is complete although encrusted with dirt.
