A small, domed copper alloy button with a hollow back, into which the shank, which is broken, is fixed. The face is decorated with a moulded, regular floral design, and has been gilded. The makers name is moulded around the edge on the rear of the button. It has a dark green patina.Similar buttons can be found in Read, dated to the post medieval period Dimensions: It is 15.5mm in diameter and 5.5mm thick, it weighs 2.42g

Copper alloy button. Uniform button, discoid and slightly concavo-convex but of unfamiliar style to this reporter. A central motif depicts the upper half of a facing figure with wild hair and a short-sleeved garment with its right arm raised, indeterminate objects lie to lower left. An inner circle separates the motif from a three-word circumferential legend: COUNTY FIRE OFFICE – the central word is less clear than the others. A drawn wire loop is brazed to the plain back. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1825-1875 Diameter: 17.2mm, Height (overall): 6.8mm, Weight: 1.94gms

A cast copper alloy buckle plate of later Roman date (Hawkes and Dunning (1961) type IIB), dating to, c. AD 250 - 400. The plate is rectangular with three rectangular perforations and a rivet hole at each corner. The sides and rear edge have decorative cusped borders. There is a ridge across the front end behind a pierced pin articulation and small bar which retains a copper alloy pin. The integrally cast frame has broken away and been lost.

A fragment of an Anglo-Scandinavian cast copper strap-end (cf. Thomas Class E, Type 4) made from a single plate of cast copper alloy. The rear end has broken off. The body of the object is tongue-shaped and decorated with a complex double-stranded insular Borre style ‘vertebral ring-chain’ interlace motif. The reverse is undecorated.

The ventral face bears concentric ripples and the dorsal face has a longitudinal ridge along the axis; it shows traces of previous knapping. Copper alloy brooch. Cast umbonate plate brooch, as kindly identified by the finder who cites SWYOR-530E36 as a parallel; Mackreth type British Plate 7.a. A central projecting boss is surrounded by four symmetrically disposed oval cells which may retain enamel – if so of a probably blue tint - and are confined by a border. The boss is surrounded by a deep gutter. Outside this, a further border confines a series of eleven semi-circular cells, each apparently retaining a triangular plate of dull possibly blue enamel – it does not ‘flow’ to fill the available cells…
