A complete Medieval copper alloy casket key dating to c. AD 1150-1450. The bow of the key is circular with an oval cross section and internal diameter of 5.18mm. The solid stem is sub-rectangular in cross section, extending from the base of the bow and terminating in a projecting pin beyond the bit. In cross-section the hoop is D-shaped and is uninscribed. The bezel has an integrally cast silver boss, in place and in imitation of a gem setting.
