A medieval copper cavallo from the Italian states under French rule, probably of Charles VIII of France (1483-98), struck in Chieti (Duplessy 636). The coin is in poor style and it is possible that it may be an imitation or later  token produced in that style. The obverse has what appears to be French shield with crude fleur de lis and a counter stamped fleur de lis of the same crude design to the top left corner of the shield. A worn and bent late medieval silver karolus of Charles VIII of France (1483-1498), Duplessy 593, dating to 1488, mint uncertain. Ref: Duplessy 1988. The coin is chipped around the edge, worn and corroded, and was folded across the centre but is now straightened. The fold is also torn.
