Three heavily abraded body sherds, probably of later Iron Age or Roman in date and possibly of Black Burnished ware (BB1) or a locally made coarseware. The sherds represent two or possibly three vessels. The fabric is dark reddish grey to black with abundant coarse sand inclusions. The large fragment (40.9mm x 30.6mm) is considerably coarser, with poorly sorted inclusions, and demonstrates a change in angle or slight carination. There is no decoration.

A rim sherd from a large post medieval whiteware (Surrey / Hampshire borderware) flanged bowl or dish. The rim is everted, with a square profile and ornamental notching around the outside edge at the top and bottom. The original rim diameter was around 400mm. A greenish lead or copper glaze appears to have been applied but hasn't vitrified, suggesting that the vessel was misfired and probably a kiln waster.

Lead pot mend. A large cast plug to mend a hole in a vessel wall of thickness 4mm. The inner side of the plug [as poured] bears a scratched graffito resembling a kite, with a central cross for struts. The finder kindly suggests this may represent a mitred face, though there are no features to suggest eyes, mouth or nose.. Patinated. The neat finish might commend a Roman date. Suggested date: possibly Roman, 43-410 Length: 40mm, Width: 38.9mm, Thickness: 8.5mm, Weight: 93.25gms
