An extremely worn cut half coin, probably silver penny dating to the early Medieval 'Norman Kings' period c. 1066-1154 AD. Probably of the 'Profile/Cross Fleury' Type of William I, c. 1066-1068.The remains of the obverse depicts the lower half of a draped bust breaking the inner circle and interrupting the legend; the remains of the legend are scant, consisting of [...] [R]E-X. The reverse is likewise unclear due to surface wear and the orientation of the cut in the coin. It seems likely that the inner circle has a simple cross fleury with an annulet at the centre. Obverse: HENRIC[DI GRA REX ANGL Z F]RANC [D]N[S HIB Z AQ]; King standing facing in a ship, crowned an wearing armour. Holding a sword and shield quartered with the arms of England and France.
Reverse: [DOMINE NE IN] FVRORE TVO ARGVAS [ME]; floriated cross with a lis at the end of each limb and an ornamented compartment in the center. In each angle, a lion passant, guardant, with a crown above. All within a tressure of eight arches.
Trefoil in fourth quarter of reverse.

Medieval silver penny fragment of the 12th century. The coin is most likely either a 'Watford' type of Stephen (1135-54) (N873) with fleurs in each angle of the reverse, or a Henry II (1154-89), cross-and-crosslets 'Tealby' type, the former bebing more likely. However, the coin is fragmentary and very poorly struck and this is uncertain. In addition, there is the possibility the coin may belong to David I of Scotland (1124-53) who struck similar coins to Stephen's Watford type with fleurs in each angle of the reverse.
