A rim sherd of a ceramic vessel of Roman date (c. AD 43-410) that consists of the rim and a small part of the body. The sherd is roughly sub-trapezoidal in plan, tapering from 26.67mm wide near the top to 13.48mm wide near the bottom. The actual rim has a sub-triangular cross section and starts at 6.96mm thick just after the rounded edge of the rim and expands to 14.14mm thick near the bottom of the actual rim, before tapering quickly to 7.54mm thick for the body proper. Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fragment of a ceramic object, likely a tile of Roman date (c. AD 43-410). The object is roughly parallelogram in plan and has a sub-rectangular cross section. The object has reddish-orange surfaces, margins, and core. The fabric has sparse to moderate, poorly sorted coarse quartz inclusions, along with possible sparse grog tempering. One side is largely flat whilst the other has the remnants of a paw print of an animal. Due to the size (23.21mm wide and 20.82mm), lack of clear claw marks, and asymmetry of the paw print, it is most likely the paw print of a cat. Dimen…

A body sherd from a ceramic vessel of Iron Age to Roman date (c. 500 BC - AD 100). The sherd is shaped like an irregular pentagon in plan. The sherd is 31.71mm wide at the very top, expanding to 37.72mm wide towards the centre. This expansion is mainly due to the right hand side of the sherd widening, whilst the left hand side slants inwards at an angle, causing this initial section of the sherd to have a parallelogram like shape. The sherd narrows slightly to 35.48mm wide, before tapering to a rounded point at the bottom, though with a greater degree of tapering on the left hand side…
