Object type: SPUR
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: East Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A small and incomplete copper alloy spur of later post medieval date. The rowel box is 13.1mm wide and downwardly curved. The slot for the rowel is partially infilled by rusted iron and indicates that the rowel was small, with a maximum diameter around 20mm. The spur arms have a lenticular cross section and both are incomplete. The small size (the arms have no more than 30mm separation at the heal) suggests that the spur may have been worn by a child.
