An incomplete copper-alloy strap fitting of Roman date, c.AD 100 - 300. The object comprises a circular plate with a convex upper surface and flat reverse resulting in a D-shaped section. The front of the plate is decorated with a recessed ring around a raised central dome. Twelve (12) sub-rectangular recessed cells encircle the ring. Half of the cells retain red enamel. The narrower end of the plate tapers to a narrow rectangular projection, likely representing the remains of an attachment hook. The rectangular strap loop is complete but blocked with corrosion. Two prominent grooves decorate the narrowed middle. A copper alloy Post Medieval strap fitting or mount dating from AD 1500 - 1700. It has a scallop shell design at one end, with a fleur or tri-lobed shape at the other end. The front is convex and the reverse is flat.
