Object type: BOTTLE
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Glass bottle fragment. A shard from the moulded rounded and thickened rim of a white or colourless glass bottle, bearing iridescence on its inner side; fiercely abraded. The restriction of iridescence to the inner surface suggests it had developed on the inside of a vessel but weathering or casual movement in the soil has sufficed to remove any such deposit from the outside. The bottle was presumably broken after the elapse of sufficient time for the coating to develop inside and out, and enough time has subsequently passed for the coating to wear away from the convex outer surface by …

Lead alloy and copper alloy toy animal. The solid cast body and upper legs of a draught horse naturalistically modelled at a scale of c.1:70 or 25mm, with an embedded rod of drawn copper alloy wire. The end of the rod projects from one side of the model, while a straight and angled length of 14mm on the other side is set diagonally across the body, suggesting it linked the horse with a separate cart or vehicle. A breast band appears, but no sign of saddle furniture, so a farm animal may be intended. Patinated; the head and lower legs of the horse are lost. William Britains introduced a…
