An incomplete, extremely worn, copper alloy strap end that is probably of early Medieval date (c. AD 800-950).
The strap end is roughly triangular in plan and sub-rectangular in cross section, with a transverse attachment end that has curved sides that flair slightly. The strap end tapers from 10.06mm wide across the curved sides of the attachment end to 6.88mm wide just beneath it over a distance of 8.87mm, before tapering more gradually to 3.95mm near the terminal over a distance of 25.67mm.
