Object type: FINGER RING
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Bath and North East Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Roman silver finger ring fragment of Guiraud type 2b. The ring retains only about 50% of the bezel and one shoulder. The bezel would have originally been oval with a recessed oval cell in the centre that would have mounted a glass or stone but which is now missing. Flanking the stone and running along the edge of both sides is a line of stamped annulars that are confined to the bezel. The shoulder is undecorated and narrows to the hoop which is now truncated.
This is an addendum to 2012T279 GLO-E86407 and represents the missing second half of the ring.
