Object type: COIN BLANK
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Milton Keynes
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Copper-alloy piece 11.48mm in diameter and 1.14g in weight. One side is convex, the other flat. It is possible that it is blank for a Roman period contemporary copy of a coin, prepared by dropping molten metal on to the flat surface. However, it was never struck. If it is a blank, it probably dates to c. AD 275-402.

Mesolithic flint blade core. Made on flint, light greyish-blue opaque patina. Some light creamy-brown opaque recortication in two areas suggests that the core was worked on a piece that had faces exposed during an earlier period. There appears to be some later Neolithic working but the blade core is bi-directional technology of Mesolithic date.
