A cast copper-alloy swivel fitting, this would have formed part of a strap fitting. The swivel comprises two loops and the swivel mechanism, formed from a shank with a rove at one end. The loops are different sizes, the smallest loop also forms the second rove and has therefore been cast integrally with the shank. The second loop is more D-shaped, with a hole through the straight edge for the shank to fit in. The second loop is also decorated with incised grooves. The rove sit inside this loop. This swivel is most likely to be a multi-use item. It probably dates for the late medieval t…

A cast lead object, which is possibly a strap distributor. The object is circular, with rounded edges. Inside the circle is a second circle, joined to the interior of the outer circle by four bars, in a cross. The function of this object is not easy to understand, but it could be a crude strap distributor, as similar examples are known in copper alloy.
