A complete copper alloy coin weight of Post-Medieval date. The coin weight is square in plan and rectangular in section. It was issued under Ferdinand and Isabella for weighing the Spanish Excellente coin. The obverse depicts the crowned busts of Ferdinand and Isabella (1469-1504 AD) facing one another, within a beaded circular border. The reverse depicts the Arms of Zeeland with tower above and the initials I and D to either side showing that the weight was made in Middelburg by Isaac Gz Deelen between circa AD 1585 - 1620. An incomplete gilded copper alloy great square-headed brooch of Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) date. The brooch is decorated in relief Style I and fits into Hines Group XXII. A small area of textile is present adhered to the headplate. The headplate, which is now in two parts, is flat and rectangular though now incomplete with roughly one quarter having been lost to an old break. It is decorated with an undecorated strip which runs across the lower edge and is interrupted in the middle by the bow above which an undecorated rectangular panel extends. A complete flint scraper of Mesolithic date (9500-4300 BC). The lithic is sub-rectangular in profile with an abruptly blunted proximal end. The dorsal surface is flaked at the distal and left hand edges, the remainder of the surface is covered in cortex, this scraper is therefore a primary flake. There is fine retouch to the distal, left and right hand sides. The ventral surface is smooth and contains one negative scar at the distal end and ripples of percussion running from the distal to the proximal end. A complete cast lead trade weight of medieval to post-medieval date. The weight is shield shaped and is decorated on the upper surface with a crowned-lis. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The metal is a mid greyish-brown colour and is worn. The weight is 46.3mm long, 31.9mm wide, 4.6mm thick and weighs 48g. Lead weighs such as this were commonly used to weigh goods under the averdepois system from 1390 in England and were used throughout the 15th century. A complete cast lead spindle whorl of uncertain date. The spindle whorl is plano-convex with a flat base and domed top and a central perforation running through it. Both faces are undecorated. The metal is a mid greyish-brown colour and is worn. The spindle whorl is 27.8mm in diameter, 7.3mm thick and weighs 28.9g. Lead spindle whorls were commonly used from the Iron Age through to the post-medieval period and are difficult to date with any certainty.
