Barbarous radiates are imitations of the antoninianus, and appear to have been produced as a way of alleviating change problems during the Crisis of the Third century. This suggests the coin is copying an issue of Tetricus II, dating to c. AD 275-285. Reece period 14. Reverse: PIETAS AVGVSTOR, sacrificial implements (sprinkler, simpulum, jug and lituus). Prototype as Normanby 1543.
