Cast copper-alloy object, possibly a finger-ring or an incomplete swivel. Mass: 5.6g; length: 52.2mm; width: 24.0mm; depth: 11.7mm. The object consists of an oval plate with a central sub-circular perforation attached to a hoop which is now broken and distorted. The hoop has a sub-D shaped cross section which is flatter internally. The plate is flat with a rectangular cross section. The object has a pitted brown/green surface. The break in the hoop is not recent. The precise date and function of the object are unclear.

Gilt cast cu-alloy spherical swivel dating from the medieval period, i.e. c. 11th-12th century. The swivel only retains some of the gilding on the outside in the grooves of the moulded decoration (or possibly, it was only intended to have gilding in the grooves). Only one half of the sphere remains and this only survives in a larger and a smaller fragment. The swivel had an openwork decoration and the knop at the top was perforated to hold the 'swivelling' loop. The other (now missing) half of the sphere would have probably looked exactly the same. A cast copper-alloy swivel ring from the Medieval period. The ring is D-shaped in plan and roughly rectangular in section. The width of the band of the increases in size as it nears the swivel fitting, from 3.81mm at its narrowest point to 7.5mm at the swivel fitting. The swivel fitting is rectangular in plan and section. On one side it is flush with the band of the ring and undecorated. On the other side, the fitting is a raised slightly above the band and decorated in a pattern of long horizontal grooves with alternating smaller vertical grooves or unmarked surfaces between them.…
