Record ID: SUSS-A337A6
Object type: REAPING HOOK
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: West Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete corroded iron possible reaping-hook due to its size, shape and thickness. The object curves and tapers to a point and is sub-rectangular in section. The wider end of the object is broken. Because of these old breaks the attachment-end is missing, but due to the shape and thickness of the object it probably finishes in a flanged socket similar to Manning 1985, p.54, fig. 14. This object would benefit from further conservation and analysis, particularly in order to gain further insight into the object's original shape and how it was manufactured (i.e. wrought, etc).
