An extremely Medieval French Jetton dating to c.15th centuries AD, probably a Tournai stock issue dating to c. 1415-c. 1497, but probably struck after 1478. (obverse as Mitchiner 1988, 223, ref: 651). The obverse carries a crown within a wire line circle, surrounded by the legend AVE MARIA GRACIA PL ERA DN On the reverse is a double-voided cross fleuretty within a double tressure of four arches. In the centre of the cross is a voided quatrefoil and there is a flower of three petals in each of the angles. The letters A-V-E-M are within the corners.

A copper-alloy French Medieval jetton of uncertain type, no close parallel has been identified in Mitchiner, but the jetton is possibly of the later half of the c.14th century AD. Obverse carries the central motif of a shield bearing a swan left, a mullet above. Reverse: carries the central motif of a triple stranded straight cross, lis in each angle of the cross, all within an inner circle. A jetton, of probable post-Medieval origin. It appears to be decorated with a lamb and flag. It has a mid grey-green patina (90%), and a light grey-green patina (10%). It has later been given two holes, which would suggest it was re-used as a button. However, as these two holes are not central to the jetton, it would suggest that it is incomplete, and the original full-sized jetton would have been much bigger. Dimensions: Remaining diameter (max): 22mm. Thickness, 1mm. The holes: Diameter (larger), 4mm. Diameter (smaller), 3mm. Weight: 1.75g.
