A carved stone head, in a light grey coloured stone, possibly limestone. It is carved only on one face with a near-triangular face, triangular nose, heavy almond-shaped eyes and rather gash-like mouth. The other faces are rough and not carved into, it appears that this stone was made to go into a wall. This head was found under the floorboards of a house with two 19th century medicine jars (LVPL-5587A5) and so it is likely that it dates to around that time. An almost complete alabaster figurine of a bird of Medieval date, probably fifteenth century (AD 1400 – AD 1500). Length 117mm, maximum width 46mm and maximum thickness 35mm. Weight 222.41g. Carved stone head of probable medieval or post-medieval date (1300 - 1600) The stone head is carved from a block of light yellow - cream coloured carboniferous limestone with a significant amount of small angular grit inclusions. This type of limestone is local to the north of Shropshire. The block is sub-rectangular in plan with tapering vertical sides. It is also sub-rectangular in both profile and cross section.
