An incomplete lead-alloy pilgrim's ampulla of medieval date, c.AD 1350 - 1550. The body of the ampulla is circular with an elongated rectangular neck extending from one edge. The remains of two attachment loops project to either side of the neck where it meets the body. The opening at the top of the neck has been pinched shut. Traces of decoration can be seen on one surfaces of the ampulla though it is too worn to be determined. The metal has a light yellowish-white patina and is worn. A lozenge bow extends from one end of the stem with a collar where the two elements meet. The opposite end of the stem is flat with small circular knop which appears broken. A bit projects out at 90 degrees to the stem. The metal has a dark brown patina and is worn. The key is 36.5mm long and 3.9mm wide; the bow is 14.4mm wide; the bit is 8.1mm wide. It weighs 4.24g. The head is ovate and heavily corroded to the reverse where a spring of four turns can be seen, one of which extends to form a worn tapering pin. An incomplete copper-alloy 'fob dangler' dating from late Iron Age to early Roman period (c. 100 BC- 200 AD). The fob is circular with a two armed triskele design, with a small hole in the centre. On either side of the arms there are two openwork circles which connect the arms to the outer frame. The back of the fob is flattened, whilst the front is slightly raised. An incomplete copper-alloy La Tene III, Nauheim Derivative brooch dating from the late Iron Age to early Roman period (c.50 BC- AD 75). The head of the brooch is formed of flattened sheet of metal which rolls under to form a tubular hinge mechanism with an axis bar, which would have held the pin in place. A fragment of a Humber Ware vessel of medieval date, c.AD 1250 - 1500. The object is a partial handle, presumably from a large jug. The handle has an ovate section with worn brakes to either end. The upper surface is decorated with four deep parallel grooves, giving a ribbed appearance. The fabric is hard fired with a grey core and red outer edges. One end is curved into an open ovate loop where it would have fitted around the frame. From the loop the pin tapers to a worn break. An incomplete copper-alloy buckle of medieval date, c.AD 1150 - 1450. All that remains is one plate of a sub-rectangular box plate. Four rivets are retained; one at each corner of the plate, and it appears undecorated. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 22.4mm long, 31.9mm wide, 4.3mm thick and weighs 7.7g. An incomplete copper-alloy buckle of medieval date, c.AD 1350 - 1400. The buckle is a single loop sub-oval with an expanded outer edge and a narrowed and offset strap bar. The expanded end has a central transverse groove which likely acted as a rest for the pin. The pin no longer remains. The metal has a dark green patina and is worn. The buckle is 15.2mm long, 13.1mm wide, 3.1mm thick and weighs 1.6g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.27, no.137 and is dated to circa AD 1350 - 1400. Ref: Whitehead, R. (1996).
