Lower Paleolithic flint Cordate (heart-shaped) handaxe of Butler mode 2 type J  dating c. 600,000-300,000 years ago. The handaxe has a light reddish brown colour and a pointed oval section.  Both faces are finished by shallow invasive flaking (soft hammer), with the planar face also having almost continuous finer edge retouch, in places giving a step-flaked edge.There is an imperfection in the flint near the base (a hollow filled with crystals) which has been used to create the notch typically seen on Cordate handaxes.

The handaxe is made of dark blue-grey  flint pebble with with a white patina. The base of the handaxe has not been worked and the original surface of the pebble is present. This may be deliberate, or the axe is not finished. The handaxe is sub-oval in shape and sub-oval in section. that has had medium sized hard and soft hammer flakes removed across its entire surface.

Fragment of a flint Lower Paleolithic, Acheulean handaxe or biface dating between 500,000-180.000 BP. This fragment is probably from the butt of the axe, and looks to have been broken and retouched to be used as a scraper in the Bronze Age. A struck and worked flake of probable Palaeolithic date. It is a worked naturally-occurring flake, with a thick profile, no evidence of a bulb of percussion, but clear retouch down one edge. A Lower Palaeolithic flint handaxe of chordate form (Wymer Type J), struck from a pale brown flint which is heavily patinated with a thick white patina from prolonged secondary deposition in calcareous sediments. The axe measures 92.6mm long by 74.6mm wide and 38.4mm thick and is bifacially worked with invasive soft hammer flaking covering both faces. The cutting edges are heavily abraded and the pointed tip has broken off.

A Middle Palaeolithic Coygan ('Bout Coupe') handaxe. Cream/beige flint or chert. Sub-rectangular with a straight base, and narrows to a rounded tip (now incomplete). All edges have shattered damage. One face has a flat profile formed by three horizontal removal scars, the left-most with a further removal flake at 45 degrees to the edge.
