Silver half vintem (10 reis) of Joao III of Portugal (1502-1557) minted between 1538 and 1557. The combination of obverse (four small shields in a cruciform pattern surrounding a central shield) and the reverse (a cross fleuretty) and the first four letters of the name IOAN[...] appear on the coins of John III of Portugal.
