Lead possible weight. Cast heater-shield-shaped plate with an indistinct symmetrical motif on its display side, possibly a lis or a crowned motif; patinated. The finder kindly suggests an identification as a pilgrim badge. The quasi-heraldic form, and perhaps the charge as well were it clearer, might both associate this with the 14th-century English vogue for heraldic motifs, which might be worn or carried by those with no noble connection or pretension. There is no apparent means of attachment. The mass equates to about one half of an averdepois ounce, thus respecting a system introdu…

Copper alloy unidentified object fragment. Cast rectangular section bar, curved so as to suggest a diameter of c.70mm had the original form been circular, now broken at one end and with a small hooked projection at the other, also with a rounded edge. Now lightly bent. The recurrent curves and form might hint at this being from a mechanism, as for a large clock, or from early agricultural machinery. The form might equally suggest a vessel handle though what remains would not be comfortable to hold or carry. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1700-1900

The wings are semi-circular, concave on the underside to accept a spring and pin mechanism which is now missing. In the centre of the forward edge of the wings is the remains of a hook which would have originally projected backwards to retain the external chord. Part …
