Pottery body sherd made of gabbroic clay that weathers over the gabbro outcrop on the Lizard in Cornwall. The exterior has one oval depression where a large inclusion has eroded away from the matrix. The fabric has inclusions of pale felspars, dark augite and mica, and additional inclusions not natural to the clay to make it a gabbroic admixture. The sherd is mid-brown on the exterior and interior of the sherd with a dark brown core. This type of gabbroic admixture fabric is seen in Bronze Age vessels, dating from c.2100-1150 BC (Henrietta Quinnell, forthcoming).

Pottery base sherd of coarse granitic ware made of admixture clay with large inclusions of quartz and granite. The fabric is a mid-brown colour throughout and there is a fracture running diagonally through the exterior of the sherd, where an oval section has spalled out of the sherd, which adds to its fragility. This type of admixture fabric is seen in Bronze Age vessels, dating from c.2100-1150 BC (Quinnell, forthcoming).

Pottery body sherd made of a coarse fabric with an uneven exterior surface that has several depressions caused by the erosion of large inclusions out of the matrix or perhaps seed impressions. The fabric has fine inclusions of pale felspars and mica with some larger inclusions of quartz added in. The exterior of the sherd is a mid-brown and in the interior more orangey-brown. Pottery body sherd of hard-baked clay, perhaps part of a mould, so that the ceramic has been altered during heating. There are various marks and impressions on the interior of the sherd, but may have been part of the moulded decoration, but the detail is unclear. The fabric is fine with few visible inclusions and is dark grey throughout, where the vessel might have been exposed to naked flames. Bronze Age, c.2100-1150 BC.

Pottery body sherd of admixture fabric, decorated with a rough chevron of imressed rectangles on the exterior of the sherd, suggesting that this could be Trevisker Ware, dating from the Middle Bronze Age. The pottery is orange on the exterior and light brown on the interior with some inclusions which look like pale felspars and mica-schists. Nowakowski (1991) illustrates a similar example from Trethellan, Newquay, on page 115, Fig.46, No.38, which is dated from the Middle Bronze Age, c.1500-1200 BC.

Pottery body sherd decorated with a single impressed twisted cord in two lines, with one line running horizontally, parallel to the rim, and the other obliquely at about a 45 degree angle. The surface and core of the sherd have been oxidised to an orangey brown colour. The interior surface of the sherd has been wiped, and there is the impression of the textile used on the surface, probably before reaching the 'leather-hard' stage while drying, in order to remove surface condensation. The fabric looks, from macroscopic investigation, to have mica, white feldspar, and grey augite incl…
