A late Middle to early Late Bronze Age (1500 - 1100 BC) copper alloy dirk. The butt is oval in form with shoulders that curve inwards to the narrow blade. Two rivet holes to the bottom of either side would secure the hilt in place, both of which are now truncated with only the top of the hole remaining. The cross-section of the blade is oval with sides that gradually taper to the point. Post depositional corrosion has resulted pitting on the surface, but otherwise this item is in very good condition with only the tip of the blade and extremities of the rear missing. Dirks and rapie…

A fragment of a flat axe-chisel or narrow bladed chisel dating from the Early to Middle Bronze Age, about 2200 - 1000 BC. The fragment consists of the axe's cutting edge above which is a patinated jagged break. The axe fragment is sub-trapezoidal in plan with the sides being slightly concave. The blade is an asymmetrical convex crescent with faint bevels. The broken edge of the axe runs transversely across its body giving an irregular oblique edge at one end. In cross section the body of the axe is rectangular as revealed by the break. The cross-section at the blade…

Incomplete copper alloy socketed axehead of probable Late Bronze Age date, c. 1300-700 BC. The artefact is the blade of the axe and consists of a broadly curved cutting edge with sides that flare out to reveal a hollow interior cavity. The artefact is sub-trapezoidal in plan. The broken edges are transverse to the cutting edge and are uneven, but all edges are abraded and chipped. The artefact has a powdery green patina. Fragment of a copper alloy axe, probably a palstave, of bronze age date c1400-950BC.  Only the cutting blade end survives, therefore its original form is uncertain and the possibility that it is a flat axehead or a short flanged axehead cannot entirely be ruled out. The upturned tips of the blade are reminiscent of Arreton/Bandon flagged axes of EBA III to MBA I (Peter Revill pers comm).  The fragment is broadly sub rectangular in plan with a wide, crescent shaped blade.  The cutting edge appears to be bevelled over two phases, suggesting that it has been sharpened.&…
