A fragment of gold, likely hack gold from a penannular bracelet of Bronze Age date, possibly c.1100-850 BC.
Description: The object is broadly 'axe-shaped' with a sub-circular terminal that tapers to a flat rectangular cross section. This was likely achieved by cutting and hammering. The tapered end has been cut, indicated by a bright rugged cut. The terminal also appears to have been cut from a larger object and then hammered smooth. The gold has a rich, bright yellow colour.

Object type: FLANGED AXEHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An incomplete very worn copper alloy flanged flat axehead probably dating to the Early Bronze Age c. 2050-1700 cal BC.
Description: The axehead very worn and heavily corroded. The low flanges are worn to the point they are barely discernable . The flanges appears to be cast rather than hammered out. The surviving blade is a narrow crescent shape with rounded corners. The body of the axe (the septum) thickens about half way along its length. At this point there is a shallow thickened ridge which may indicate the beginnings of stop ridge technolog…

An incomplete Middle Bronze Age copper alloy socketed spear-head, dating 1500-1150 BC.
Description: The surviving blade is elongated leaf shaped, although worn and the upper section is missing. The socket is sub-conical in form and largely circular in cross-section, the lower section has broken away. On either side of the socket shaft are the remains of two sideloops. The internal socket is circular and quite thick-walled, maximum internal diameter 6.42mm. The entire object has a pale green patination, with pitting from corrosion. The …

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A Late Bronze Age copper alloy socketed chisel, dating to c.1150-800 cal BC
Description: The object is solid cast with an incomplete roughly conical socket which has a circular cross-section at its distal end, tapering to a solid oval where it meets the blade. The blade, which is incomplete, gently expands in width as it narrows in thickness. The edges of the blade smoothly adjoin the handle socket, but there is a step between socket and blade on both front and back.
Measurements: Length: 79.92mm (overall); 44.6mm (socket); width: 18.66 (distal end of socket); 16.23mm (dist…

A fragment of copper-alloy flat axehead of Early Bronze Age date (2350-1600BC).
Description: The fragment is relatively short and represents the butt end of the axehead. The butt is rounded narrow and very thin almost like it has extensive post casting working to make it that thin. The fragment widens slightly towards a jagged and patinated break. It has a dark green pitted surface. There maybe evidence of hammering to break up the axehead on one of the upper surface shown by a rectangular mark that has patinated differently.
Measurements: 40.09mm long, 28.31mm wide, 10.8mm thic…
