On one face where the body and the blade meet there are incised lines running the width of the axe. There are two main lines and two minor lines. The patina extends into the grooves of the lines, suggesting that they are old, but they cannot be regarded as any form of decoration. The walls of the a…

Blade fragment of a late Bronze Age socketed axehead. The blade edge is abraded and portions of the patina are missing on this edge, therefore it is difficult to see traces of wear. The surface of the axehead has large patches of patina missing, otherwise there is no other markings visible. The opposite terminal to the blade is broken. This edge is an old break and the patina continues over this break. In the centre of the break is a shallow linear indentation which could indicate the lower edge of the socket. The patina is a brown/green colour.

The blade is incomplete, and is it appears the majority of the blade is missing. The blade has a lozenge-section midrib. The socket is circular in section which tapers towards the blade. Where the blade is broken the socket is visible at the broken section. The socket here is an oval shape. There is a small, worn and incomplete protrusion either side of the socket, which suggests there were originally side loops. The terminal of the socket is heavily abraded and may not represent the original edge. The surface of the spearhead is heavily pitted and has traces of a dark green patina.
