An incomplete Roman enamelled copper alloy symmetrical plate brooch, now in two parts, probably dating to c. AD 100-250. The brooch appears to have originally been lozengiform in plan, with a stepped profile of three tiers, the uppermost holding a recessed cell retaining traces of a white enamel inlay n situ, along with traces of a degraded white cement. There is no further surviving decoration. The reverse of the plate was concave, with vestigial remains of two perforated lugs to hold a pin and axis bar, now lost. An incomplete Roman copper alloy brooch, probably dating to c. AD 70-150. Only the lower bow of the brooch survives. A central cross moulding survives, comprising of three flanged transverse ridges with the upper two divided into three by grooves to form a simple 'acanthus'-like moulding, with a concave reverse. The bow terminates above this in an old break. Below the cross moulding the bow is sub-rectangular in form, with a shallow plano-convex cross section, tapering into the foot, now lost. Grey flint knife. A trapezoid flake with broad and narrow flakes struck from its dorsal side, and with a bulb and ripples on its ventral surface. One end may then have received short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect along a curved end. A misty patina then formed over all surfaces, suggesting the object was discarded and endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment. An incomplete Roman copper alloy hinged 'initial' T-shaped brooch, probably dating to c. AD 50-100. The surviving fragment comprises of the right wing and upper bow, with the rest of the brooch lost to old breaks. There is no indication of a headplate. At the head of the brooch the right wing survives complete, to a width of 28.5mm, the left lost to an old break. The wing is cylindrical, and retains an iron axis bar in situ.
