Cast lead cylindrical powder charger, with uneven base and damaged rim. Used by musketeers to hold their fine priming powder which would have been poured directly into the musket's priming pan. Probably Civil War period. Read (1988) illustrates powder-charger caps on page 163, Nos.1090-1092, which are dated to c.1660-86.
