A Post Medieval wooden sole (patten) dating late 17th - 18th century. The wooden sole is waisted but the heel is missing. The leather upper is incomplete and is attached to the sole with iron studs. Goubitz et al (2001:82) suggest a date of 18th century for this shape of sole, they also illustrate pattens that are similar that date to the 17th century (2001:246). An almost complete iron patten dating from the Post Medieval period. The hoop is made from a band of iron standing on its side and bent into an oval loop. Although now corroded, and with large amounts of ferrous oxide adhering to it in the form of a light brown crust, the key features of the patten are still discernible. The oval frame has a uniform thickness and width throughout, and both protruding platforms survive to some extent. A complete Post Medieval cast iron shoe patten dating to the 17th century. The shoe patten has a wavy-edged frame with globular tabs at each end with two cylindrical nails in each for attachment. The shoe patten is 167.2 mm in length, 71.2 mm in width, 22.8 mm in thickness, and weighs 102.17 g. A similar patten can be found on the database which has been dated to 17th century.
