A Post Medieval copper alloy chain marker (?1650-present). The marker has been cast with a perforated circular terminal which then expands to form two triangular 'wings' before terminating in two curving pointed projections. It is designed to fit into a chain link and when twisted through 90 degrees within the chain link it cannot easily fall out. Rough brown/green patina.
