A copper alloy artefact, possibly a fragment of a swan-necked carrying handle from a Roman helmet dating from AD 100 - 300. The surviving part is a curved rod of copper alloy, oval in cross-section. It is wide (8.7mm) at the broken end, and curved in a U shape while tapering to a recurved terminal knop which is almost complete. It has a green/brown patina. It is 39.9mm long, 31.8mm wide and 10.5mm thick. It weighs 22.9g. Compare examples of helmet handles in Chapman (2005) Military Equipment in Wales such as Qd01, Qd03 and Qd11.

An incomplete iron replica helmet dating to the Modern period (c. AD 1850-1950). The helmet is machine made in the form of an Early Medieval style circa AD 800-1000. The skull of the helmet is cone-shaped with a sharp point at the apex. At the base of the helmet is a separate band attached with circular rivets. The nose-guard is also attached separately to the front of the helmet, also with circular rivets. The nose-guard is angled at a sharp 90 degrees. An incomplete modern reproduction of an iron post-medieval helmet, replicating a date of the mid-16th to mid-17th century. The helmet is a type of pikeman's pot helmet, known as a Spanish morion or Cabasset. The helmet is constructed in two pieces: the skull (main body) and a separate brim that has been riveted on to the skull with copper alloy rivets. An incomplete iron 'lobster pot' helmet from the English Civil War. The helmet is formed of two plates folded over at the top. A triangular visor survives, but the bars are missing. The visor/peak is riveted to the helmet by a dome headed rivet on either side. The visor still moves. The tail survives largely intact, but is damaged in places. Fragments of a possible iron pike ferrule and an iron burgonet helmet dating from c. 1580-1620 AD. Burgonet helmets were made in one or two pieces with an integral peak at the front and a short neckguard at the rear. The remaining fragment probably came from either of those places on the helmet, as it is curved (slightly oval) with a lip at the lower end. A Roman copper-alloy helmet cheek-piece. This object is formed from a flat piece of copper alloy that is slightly convex on the front face. The cheek-piece has a flat upper narrow edge with two rectangular projections. The projections have been formed by bending the flat copper alloy back on itself, this has formed a hinge to enable the cheek-piece to attach to the helmet and be lifted and raised. An incomplete iron helmet of post-medieval date probably a English civil war lobster pot helmet. The helmet is 200mm in surviving height and 210mm wide and 300mm in length. The helmet is formed of two plates joined in the centre with a raised comb. A number of incomplete rivets survive within the two plates, internally they have square sectioned washers (12.6mm wide). A cast copper alloy scale from the chin strap of a 19th cavalry cap. The scale is B shaped with three straight edges and a double convex curve on the fourth. Adjacent to the longer straight edge are three circular attachment holes, one in each corner and one in the centre. It is 33.07mm wide, 21.2mm wide and 0.5mm thick; it weighs 2.43 grams. It is similar to SOM-6F7563. This object has been recorded because the findspot is close to the edge of the military area on Salisbury Plain.
