A cast copper alloy possible flail head dating from the Medieval period. The object consists of a copper alloy case or shell with an integral suspension loop and a lead alloy core. The object is pear-shaped with a rounded cross-section. A casting seam is visible running from the base of the loop down each edge of the object. At the base of the object is a small perforation with an internal diameter of 3.67mm. Within the perforation the lead alloy core can be seen, which is light white in colour.
