A copper alloy dress accessory of medieval date. The object is a square piece of copper alloy sheet carefully bent with a U shaped bend into a triangular shape. Two of the edges of the triangle, on both outer faces, are decorated with a wiggle work border; a zig-zag incised line. The third edge is not bordered, and is damaged, suggesting that the object was once larger. The function of the object is not clear. The bend is wide and rounded, suggesting that the gap between the two ends of the sheet is deliberate. The two sides of the sheet are parallel to each other. This suggests that s…

A copper alloy dress accessory which probably dates from the post medieval period. The object is a hollow spherical knop with a diameter of 5.67mm. In the base of the object are four small holes which may be for attachment. The top of the sphere is moulded into square areas with parallel lines filling them, with the direction of the lines at 90 degrees to the lines in the next square creating a chequerboard effect. This tiny object could have been a button, the head of a pin or a bead. The style of manufacture suggests a post medieval date, but it has not been possible to find parallel…

The object is an elongated trapezoidal shape in plan, with a small trapezoidal protruding from the centre of the most narrow edge. Two lengths of thick copper alloy wire, originally penannular but now mishapen. The terminals of each length are coiled, with a leaf shaped piece of copper alloy welded on at the end. Sections of the wire are decorated with transverse curvilinear lines. Though the items could be interpreted as small bracelets, they may be decorative toggles from a fur coat.
