A copper-alloy Medieval hooked strap end, dating to AD 1270-1400. It consists of a sub-triangular cross-sectioned plate/bar, which ends in an inward-curving hook. The plate has two integral rivets protruding at its back. The hook has a D-shaped cross section and tapers towards the tip. The front face of the strap end has a transverse ridge where the bar meets the hook. The front face has traces of gilding. As Egan-Pritchard (1991, p. 156, fig. 102, no. 728). A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy stud or mount (c. 1500-c. 1800). This stud is circular in plan, domed at the front and concave at the rear. The rear face has a tapering integral spike which is square in cross-section and adjacent to the head it measures 3.2 x 3.2mm. The front is reddish brown and green with patches of a slightly darker green patina. The rear face is dull green. Diameter: 24.0mm; thickness: 7.7mm. Weight: 5.51g. Compare with: SF-9A67D6 which is dated c. 1550 to c. 1750. A similar mount from Norwich has been dated AD 1750 (Margeson 1993: 83, fig. 48, ref: 529)…
