“Tally stone”, marked on a water worn pebble of mid-grey slightly banded, fine grained siltstone, in good sunlight, very, very fine specks of mica are visible within the stone. The twenty tallies are cut in to the lateral edge on the straighter of the two sides, they are a V cut with either a file (or similar) or cut with a sharp blade, the edges of which have rounded off slightly over the years and they appear to be a non-recent addition to the surface of the stone. Lead alloy possible tally fragment. A cast flat uniface disc, broken all around its edge, bearing a moulded design of twenty ‘pellets’ on one side, arranged in four or five loose rows. The pellets are actually tiny [2mm] squares. A coppery tint appears on one side of the decorated face, though the rest of the object appears to be a lead alloy. Possibly used as a tally. A post medieval wooden tally or bill made from a curved stick of wood (probably Hazel) with a sub-rounded cross section. The thicker end section has been cut and drilled with a single hole in the centre, possibly for a suspension loop or attachment of some sort. Most of the bark has been removed.
