A small, cast lead alloy phallic object, probably of Roman date, AD 43 - 410. It is three dimensionally modelled and consists of a pair of testes, an erect shaft and a glans. The glans is defined by a narrow, transverse groove across the underside of the shaft at the outer end. It is not so well defined on the upper surface. At the inner end of the shaft, between the testes, is a small, circular perforation. It is possible that this was for suspension, allowing the amulet to be worn as a pendant. The lead has a creamy-white patina. The pendant is 22.1mm long, 14mm wide and 6.1mm thick…

Incomplete cast copper alloy phallic votive model or pendant of Roman date probably 100-300 AD. There is some debate as to whether this is a pendant or not, a small knop is present at the rare of the object and is incomplete. However, it may be a stud, or more likely be a broken pendant loop. The phallic object is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and broadly sub-triangular in cross section. It tapers from front to back. The rear of the model is relatively flat with an abraded knop projecting relatively centrally. The edge of the model has a raised ridge which extends from one edge to th…

Phallic mount attached to a fragment of sheet copper alloy, probably part of a vessel wall. The shaft is made from cast copper alloy, D-shaped in section, tapering and flattening to a pointed tip. There is a notch cut or worn or broken out of one side of the tip, and a slightly V-shaped ridge separates the tip from the rest of the phallus. The shaft continues to flare very slightly to the base. To either side of the base is a slightly oblique, slightly curving ridge which separates the phallus from the rounded testicles. The mount projects upwards, beyond the broken edge of the…
